Central part of the film “Stresstest” for the German Pavilion at the 2025 Architecture Biennale

With the opening of the German Pavilion in Venice on May 9, a project in which BILDECHT played a key role was successfully completed.

Project: Film editing for the central installation “Stresstest.”

Goal: To make the physical and psychological effects of urban heat stress tangible and to demonstrate solutions.

Contribution: Design of the central film narrative, which combines data and emotions, in collaboration with Corinna zu Ortenburg (Storymaker).

Result: A highly acclaimed pavilion contribution that brings the urgency of climate adaptation in cities to the global stage.

Commissioned by the Storymaker agency and in close collaboration with director Corinna zu Ortenburg, BILDECHT was responsible for editing the middle section of the central film installation.

The “Stresstest” project, curated by Nicola Borgmann, Elisabeth Endres, Gabriele G. Kiefer, and Daniele Santucci, addresses the critical impacts of climate change on urban spaces. The film serves as a key narrative element to make complex scientific data and future scenarios accessible and emotionally resonant to a broad audience.

Our task was to stage-edit the real images of the middle section, selected in close collaboration with the curators, as well as to implement their composition and technical adaptation to the special format. A powerful sequence that depicts the current (heat) STRESS situation in urban spaces and the people living within them, spanning the spectrum from problem analysis (#STRESS) to solutions (#DESTRESS).

This project is an outstanding example of interdisciplinary collaboration at the intersection of architecture, science communication, and creative media production. My thanks go to the entire team, including the creative partners from flora&faunavisions, for their excellent and inspiring collaboration.

The exhibition runs until November 23, 2025, at the Giardini della Biennale.

Storymaker, Bildecht
